Electrical Designer

Job Summary

We are looking for a strong Electrical Designer who is eager to shape the world around them. You will immediately make a lasting impact on our one-of a-kind projects.

This position will perform drafting of electrical drawings with engineering supervision using CAD. Perform specification and sourcing of control components and write purchase orders. Perform assembly and testing of electrical assemblies locally and at sub-contractor sites. This position will also handle many aspects of electrical field installation and testing of Uni-Systems’ electrical control systems. Work collaboratively with project managers, construction managers, mechanical, and structural design team members to achieve project goals.

  • Responsible for:
    • Electrical drafting (schematics, diagrams, layouts, assemblies, etc.) using AutoCAD.
    • Documenting part specifications, sourcing parts and writing purchase orders.
    • Electrical assembly and testing at fabrication shop and sub-contractor sites.
    • Electrical field installation and testing, including termination of power, control, LAN, and fiber optic cables as part of our field team.
    • Telephone and on-site electrical support for existing installations.
    • Coordinating with Mechanical and Structural team members on field component placement.
    • Quality control inspections.
  • Drive continuous improvement by finding ways to enhance quality and performance with shop and field assembly, adjustment, function, aesthetics, costs and maintenance.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by management.

 

Job Requirements

Employment Authorization

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Education

  • Two-year degree in Automated Systems preferred and/or a licensed Electrician.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Design and/or installation
  • Strong electrical industrial experience a plus
  • Low Voltage installer experience a plus

Skills and Abilities

  • Operational knowledge of electrical control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, and industrial networks.
  • 2-D CAD skills (AutoCAD).
  • Skilled at industrial control installations, including cable and wire terminations.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient at using analysis and design software that is relevant to the business.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes (N.E.C., etc.).
  • Communicates effectively with management, employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Self-directed; demonstrates initiative, accuracy, and professionalism in producing quality work.
  • Results-oriented; proven ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Travel, domestic and foreign, during installation and commissioning of projects.
