Job Summary

Uni-Systems Engineering is expanding with a second location in the Orlando, FL metro area. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior or Principal-level Project Engineer to join our team in Orlando. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the success of our Florida office and working on high-profile projects in Amusement, Entertainment, and Aerospace industries with a primary focus on show action equipment, dynamic ride systems, and mission-critical offshore aerospace tooling.

In this role, you will be responsible for testing, commissioning, and turnover of complex mechanical systems to our clients. You will also provide critical field support, including construction supervision, troubleshooting, and warranty support. While the primary focus is field engineering, you will also support the mechanical design team as needed. This position requires a self-starter with excellent technical skills, strong leadership, and the ability to thrive in both hands-on fieldwork and collaborative design environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the testing, commissioning, and turnover of mechanical equipment and systems to clients.
  • Provide hands-on field support, including construction supervision, system troubleshooting, and warranty services.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in real time during field operations.
  • Conduct inspections and tests of components at manufacturing facilities prior to shipment and oversee installation in the field.
  • Collaborate with contractors, fabricators, and internal customers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support the mechanical design team with tasks such as developing concepts, performing calculations, and creating detailed designs as needed.
  • Design complex machinery, including gearing, actuators, wheels, weldments, bearings, and related assemblies.
  • Provide project updates and ensure seamless integration of systems during design reviews with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal engineering teams.
  • Manage all aspects of multi-discipline construction projects in both the field and office.

Job Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree from an ABET-accredited institution in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • E.I.T. credential with plans to pursue the P.E. exam.
  • 5+ years of experience with a B.S. degree, or 3+ years with an M.S. degree, in a related engineering field.
  • Experience with system testing, commissioning, and turnover of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and resolve technical issues in the field.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions/procedures.
  • Strong desire to solve mechanical problems, from bearings to actuator sizing, with a system-level focus.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work at elevated heights and outdoor environments (e.g., heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Physical effort, including standing, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (15 to 35 lb.).
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed based on site operational demands.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status (current Green Card holder).
  • Ability to work remotely initially, with a transition to in-person at the Orlando, FL office in Q3 2025.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily to our Minneapolis corporate office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. Degree in a related engineering field.
  • Florida P.E. registration.
  • 2+ years of experience in the Amusement or Entertainment industry.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, and Ansys.
  • Strong understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing techniques and field supervision.
  • Experience managing risks associated with custom, unprecedented designs.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and cost.
  • Enthusiasm for field work and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with related industry standards, including ASTM F2291, AISC, and AWS.
  • Familiarity with control and electrical systems.
